It may be to your surprise, the truth be told, I usually find the most trendiest restaurants on social media... And I'm not too proud or embarrassed to admit it. Social media has certainly become one of the greatest marketing tools and it's doing the job. With that being said, I first discovered The Butchers Daughter on IG as it was trending throughout many New Yorkers feeds. Every time I came across this Manhattan gem, I instantly knew I was in love.

Luckily to my fortune, I didn't have to travel across America to eat here... Although, I certainly wouldn't mind. The latest news is, I'm happy to say, The Butchers Daughter has now opened their 2nd restaurant in Venice off of the famous Abbot-Kinney Road. It is certainly a killer move on their part - their style and healthy food selection couldn't mesh better with the down to earth, chill, trendy beach community of Venice.

During our visit, The Butchers Daughter was overflowing with people trying to get first dips on opening week. It was a mad zoo, and unfortunately for us, it was an hour long wait.

Nonetheless, we were patient enough to endure and I'm so glad we did.

 You're lying if you don't believe in first impressions, because whether you are aware of it or not, we all are impressed by our experiences and even more so when they are our firsts.

I was certainly impressed. The restaurants ability to capture small accent pieces (as shown below) all throughout without making it feel as though I'm in an antique shop wa brilliant. The layout is smart, lots of bar seating, but not enough tables. Abbot Kinney certainly draws a consistent crowd of the unmarried-kidless crew, much like WeHo, which make the bar seating more effective than having to quickly turn tables. 

The presentation of food and design is really artistic. I always love to see every detail being unique and true to the designer/creator. Although options on the menu have some commonality with other likeminded restaurants around LA, you just can't go wrong with fresh foods - in which, you feel The Butchers Daughter is centered around.

I think for LA, we'll see less and less of the trendy places, like Urth Cafe, become less of the social epicenter to these more health conscience restaurants.

Their drink selection is on another level. Coffee, fresh juices and smoothies are so unique and literally too amazing to discribe. The drinks and food taste so fresh, only natural ingredients are used. I couldn't appreciate this more now than ever... It's nice not to have to take into consideration the terrible outcome for my body as I endulge in every bite, such as side the effects of MSG, preservatives, fake sugars and other harmful ingredients.

This restaurant it guilt free in that regard.

And boy did i appreciate feeling like my body was actually nourished and not that I just consumed empty calories. It was a win-win.

Good food and nourished body.

P.s. This avocado on toast thing is really becoming a trend... It's no joke. I thought it was just part of the Gwyneth Paltrow bandwagon, and her, It's All Good cook book - but it's everywhere these days. To its defense, it's pretty amazing and you can't go wrong with avocado especially when you have someone like me, an avocado lover, chowing down.

Real foods, healthy ingredients, sweet and savory... Need I say more? Or does the picture above do justice?  

It's definitely worth the commute out of the common WeHo hot spots. Or in that case, wherever you live. It's nice to get out of your norm and go to some place new. I'm certainly enjoying trying new things and new places.

My little sidekick always does so well eating out, and to be fair, he napped about the whole time which enable Wes and I, and friends to enjoy a moment of kidless bliss. For all those parents out there, eating out with one kid, I'm sure is much different once you hit the 2-kid zone. So in the time being, we're certainly taking every advantage of this season with just one child. Unfortunately, Winston is so opposed to having a baby around I'm not sure when our next will come... I often ask him - "Winston, do you want mommy to have a baby?" he very quickly responds, "NO, Winston's mommy's baby."  Oh Lord.

Also, a side note, while eating at these speciality spots, this may sound a little cheap of us - but we'll generally feed Winston before hand or bring snacks for him. The reality is that he's never been a great eater and often times when out to eat, food goes to waste because he is so picky. Even though we encourage him to try our food, the food hardly wins him over.

Every kid is different, and I'm always fascinated how other people handle kids and eating out, that's why I'm including this piece of information.

All in all, you can't go wrong on Abbot-Kinney. The restaurants, coffee shops, stores and services are all cool. The Butchers Daughter fits in so perfectly. I'm happy I was able to test it out on opening week.
